Guitar excursions 1 & 2

These discs bring together a series of recordings made in 2013 exploring favourite tunes arranged for solo guitar. Excursions 1 explores largely Jazz and Blues themes while Excursions 2 is oriented towards Celtic and Folk tunes. Three sample tracks from each are given below.

Guitar excursions 1

Bermuda Triangle Exit is my arrangement of a Stephan Grossman original, and Ton of Blues is my upbeat ragtime version of the tune originally by Ton Van Berkjeit. Walking the blues is one of my originals.

Guitar excursions 2

The first medley starts with the Scottish pipe march Battle of the Somme, which is followed by the Irish air Southwinds and then by the Scottish tune My ain Haim. For this the guitar is tuned DADEAD and played in the key of A. The second track, Dance for your daddy, is in an EADEAE tuning and in the key of A. The third tune develops from the Scottish song Scots wha hae and is again in an DADEAD tuning but this time in the key of D.
